BIO
When I think about where I am with my art is almost like again having this affirmation of the mediums at my disposition. A confidence to give or expose this life and dialogue about the circumstances of different languages be that words, textures of materials, sounds, words and physical actions.
its always an infinite of combinations that perhaps even when the relation and context is recognised by me and the path it became random and almost clashing in this same narrative I discovered when first encountered. I think when I am now more aware of is the dimensions and layers creating images becomes always the invention of a language. A personal one. A tool not necessarily functional. Almost a token.
along with in terms of choosing a more representational way of using the medium, where I feel being in control means the honesty of the work or some how diplomatic. I've been conscientiously trying to be more immediate and also more focussed in being representational without questioning motive. So choosing again this narrative that is illustrative if you will . I feel strongly drawn to use the lyrics of a particular poem whether it is political, humorous, romantic or tragic. Such things are fit in a way to reflect who I am so naturally that is what embeds itself into my life and that is the soul of my painting, drawings, wood assemblages , spoken work, found objects or everyday spontaneous actions with strangers or people in my life.
at the moment there is perhaps a more vigilant awareness as an artist in the effect globally it is shaping humanity and the community overall. It is inevitable that this will also change the way we perceive artists , individuals and groups in the community therefore there is in my opinion pressure for artist to abandon their roots and become technology consumers. I am in my intention to take ownership of this awareness and skill to create with the basics. Whether it is scratching the table with a rusty nail or doing a written slogan on a wall, that is essentially the experience we should all be doing .
